Dr. John P. Humphrey, director of the United Nations Division of Human Rights, was feted by the World Jewish Congress at a luncheon here today. Dr. Humphrey is retiring April 30 from the post which he assumed almost 20 years ago. He will join the law faculty of McGill University at Montreal.
Samuel Bronfman, luncheon host and chairman of the North American executive committee of the World Jewish Congress, presented a citation to Dr. Humphrey for his “creative imagination and patient diplomacy with which he has sustained the cause of human rights through the vicissitudes of international crises and diplomatic conflict.”
