The World Zionist Congress plenum endorsed without opposition today a recommendation by the Budget and Finance Committee that the World Zionist Organization’s nearly $31 million budget and the Jewish National Fund’s $19 million budget be approved.
The plenum also passed without opposition the committee’s resolution that the Congress reiterate the primacy of the Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal and the United Jewish Appeal over all other aid-to-Israel drives and the necessity for other campaigns to coordinate their efforts with the UIA and the UJA.
Also approved unanimously was a committee recommendation that “a person who does not fulfill his duty to the UIA or the UJA will not be able to hold any post in the Zionist movement, whether on the local or national level.”
The plenum also approved a resolution of the Youth Aliya Committee backing the Youth Aliya Organization and welcoming the decision to absorb some 4,600 disadvantaged Israeli children into the youth aliya framework in the next two years. The resolution also included a call for a larger youth aliya budget.
