Rabbi Samuel Rosenblatt, of Baltimore, who is on the staff of Johns Hopkins University, has been assigned by Yale University to translate into English the works of the Jewish philosopher saadia Gaon who died in Babylonia in the tenth century, it was reported here today.
It was pointed out that this is the first time that Saadi Gaon’s works will be translated into a modern language. One of the most important books written by Saadia Gaon, which is still popular, is “Sefer Emunoth v’Decuth, ” the Book of Faith and Doctrines, which was the first systematic presentation of the philosophic foundation of the dogmas of Judaism.
