The closure to prevent terror attacks during the holiday was approved by Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon and affects at least 80,000 Palestinians who work or do business in Israel.
Thousands of police officers, Border Guard officers and volunteers will be deployed throughout Jerusalem to maintain public order and security before and during the holiday.
