A few hundred Jewish families have lost their livelyhood and 750 workers their employment, as a result of the fire which destroyed the Progress Vulkan Match Factory of Pinsk, belonging to M. Halpern, a well-known philanthropist. The loss is estimated at one and a half billion Polish marks.
