The fact that no final agreement has been reached between France and Italy on the Palestine issue in no way affects the British administration there, according to the statement by Ormsby Gore in replying to a query in the House of Commons as to the source of the authority by which Britain is ruling Palestine. The question was put by Mr. Mosley. On October 3rd, 1921, Mr. Ormsby Gore replied, the President of the League of Nations’ Cpuncil requested the British Government to continue the administration of Palestine in the spirit of the draft of the mandate, which previously had been submitted to the Council.
