Finland is not alone in prohibiting Schechita, according to Dr. Max Heller, Rabbi of Temple Sinai, New Orleans, who draws the attention of the J. C. B. to the inaccuracy of its report on April 27. “As far as I am informed. Switzerland has for some time prohibited Schechita”, Dr. Heller writes. “In fact that prohibition, I believe, is still in force; whether the strong agitation some years ago, in Saxony, succeeded, I cannot recall positively”.
It appears that Finland’s edict against the Jewish method of slaugtering animals is not now, the prohibition having been in force for some time. Apparently the Finnish Government had the prohibition under review and decided to confirm it.
