“The Yiddish Press As A Force in Americaniza### the title of a dissertation by Dr. Mordecai Saltes, ### the Committee on Higher Degrees in Columbia University has accepted.

The thesis is based on an analysis of over 1,500 editorials in the Yiddish daily newspapers of New York City during ###a period of six months, chosen arbitrarily from five different years: January, 1912, March, 1913 (preceding the outbreak of the World War); November, 1914, July 1915 (during the Great War); May 1920 and December 1920 (after the Great War).

The author of this dissertation is a graduate of Yesheveth Etz Chaim, of the New York University where he received his Batchler Degree in 1915 and in 1918 received his Master degree at Columbia. Dr. Saltes is at present director of the Extension Department of the Bureau of Education and Vice-Chairman of the New York Council of the American Jewish Congress.
