Premier Witos and his entire Cabinet have come forward outspokenly in favor of the percentage norm, providing for the restriction of numbers of foreign students but particularly against Jewish students.
The Minister of Instruction, Glombinski, at the last session of the Education Committee declared himself whole-heartedly in favor of the numerus clausus. Glombinski’s attitude is taken to be that of the government generally.
The only question, Glombinski said at the hearing, was whether it is advisable to have the restrictions go into effect immediately or be delayed until the next semester.
The percentage norm will be introduced into the private as well as public schools, the directors of the private schools having pledged themselves to exclude Jewish pupils.
