M. Ehrlich, the only Jewish member of the South African Senate, died yesterday at Blomfontein.
His funeral today was attended by many thousand Jews and non-Jews. Premier Hertzog, the new Prime Minister of South Africa, delivered an address at the grave in which he dwelled upon his friendship with Senator Ehrlich, for the past twenty-nine years. He pointed out the great contribution of the late Senator to the economic and political development of the country, and Satated that South Africa had suffered a great loss upon his death.
Senator Ehrlich was a prominent leader of Jewry in South Africa and was the founder of the Jewish Board of Deputies, a union of Jewish communities in South Africa.
