Warsaw (May. 17)
A fire broke out yesterday in Pinsk, the main city of the Polesie Province, with a population consisting mostly of Jews. Two streets, Gontscharska and Zavolna, with thirty houses on them, were destroyed.
The local fire department could not cope with the situation and the flames raged for many hours. An appeal for aid was made to Brest Litovsk, which is a long distance away, and with its help the fire was finally suppressed. Public buildings were not affected by the fire.
