The government is planning to call a Congress of Jews to unite the Orthodox and Reform communities, which have been separated since 1868. It is the desire of the government that there be but one Jewish representation in each town. Reform circles are much aroused over the proposal, declaring that the government has no right to intervene in Jewish internal affairs.
