Providing Matzohs for Passover is a transgression for which a member of the Communist Party is liable to exclusion from the privileged class in Russia, according to decision of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party in Homel.
The tribunal today considered the appeal of the Jewish Communist Lew, who was excluded from the Communist Party on the accusation that although he participated in the anti-religious campaign during the Passover holiday last year, he provided himself, his family and his parents with Matzohs and gave a Seder. When asked for an explanation, Lew declared that he obtained Matzohs for his household, not because of religious convictions, but because he thought bread would be dangerous food for his wife who was pregnant.
The Regional Committee of the Communist Party rejected Lew’s appeal.
