“The Jews as a whole cannot be held responsible for the actions of a few lunatics, criminals and anarchists abroad”, declared Dr. Hertz, Chief Rabbi of Great Britain, at the laying of the cornerstone for a new synagogue in Newcastle. “All Jewry should not be judged by one or two Jews”, the Rabbi stated.
