Courts cannot order the discharge of immigrants who have been denied a fair hearing by immigration officials, but must determine their right to enter the country, the Supreme Court held today in a case brought from New York against Szejwa Waldman and others.
Admission had been denied to the immigrants on various grounds. They then sought to prevent deportation by habeas corpus proceedings. The Federal Court at New York refused to order their discharge, but the Circuit Court ol Appeals reversed the judgment and ordered the immigrants out of custody. The Government contended that the trial Court should have been directed to determine the right ol the aliens to enter the country instead of being instructed to discharge them.

In connection with the Girl Scout Week, over 300 Jewish girl scouts of Manhattan met for religious services in the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue Sunday morning.
The service was led by the Rev. Dr. Pool, who addressed the girls on Jewish contribution to the making of the American spirit and the part which the American Jewess of today can take in preserving this spirit.
