An appeal to the Jews of America to participate in the observance of Golden Rule Day, in behalf of the Near East Relief, was made by Felix M. Warburg, chairman for Jewish organizations affiliated with the Near East Relief. Mr. Warburg has asked the Jews in this country to arrange a Golden Rule Dinner and contribute to the support of the work of aiding the destitute in the Near East. He has also written to presidents of Congregations for their cooperation, suggesting that they ask their Rabbis to arrange congregational Golden Rule Dinners, and deliver sermons on the Near East Relief on Golden Rule Day.

The Golden Rule Day will be observed in America on Sunday, December 7th. The observance includes the eating of a simple meal, similar to the daily fare of the Near East orphans-Armenians, Syrians, Greeks-Jewish boys and girls whose parents were martyred in war or deportation.

In his appeal Mr. Warburg said: “I have always been favorably inclined toward the Near East Relief organization, which has done such a tremendous piece of work among the orphans and refugees, and last spring, when I had an opportunity to see, with my own eyes, its operations in Jerusalem, in Nazareth, and in Athens, I was able to appreciate more fully the self-sacrificing manner in which that organization is endeavoring to minister to these sufferers, a large number of whom are still, unfortunately, in need of assistance.”

Mr. and Mrs. Abram I. Elkus, Edward A. Filene, Henry Morgenthau, Oscar S. Straus, and Dr. and Mrs. Stephen S. Wise, and Felix M. Warburg are members of the National Golden Rule Committee.
