Scenes depicting the crossing of the Red Sea by the Jews in the film, “Queen of Slaves”, which is based on Haggard’s novel, “Moon of Israel”, were objected to by the Hungarian film censor.

The censor, a professed anti-Semite, declared that a film showing the Jews crossing the Red Sea dryshod, while the Egyptians were drowned, is anti-Christian propaganda and was impermissible in a Christian country.

The Bible was used as evidence by the producer, but the censor would not be convinced. He further ruled that the word Jew must not be used in the film. The censor also insisted on the elimination of the picture of a magnificent Jewish temple.
