There is only one Jewish member of Parliament in Canada. Mr. S. W. Jacobs, but even that is too much for the anti-Semites. The “Evening Telegram”, which takes every possible and impossible occasion to slander the Jews, recently attacked Mr. Jacobs in connection with the admittance of the Roumanian Jewish refugees into Canada. When Mr. Jacobs replied in vigorous tears to the onslaught of the “Evening Telegram” that paper published his letter and accompanied it with ## attack on Mr. Jacobs and other prominent Canadian Jews. The “Evening Telegram” particularly resented being called anti-Semitic by the Jews. This paper states sanctimoniously that it is not anti-Semitic, on the contrary it feels a deep friendship for the Jews, only it desires to improve and elevate them.
