The Hungarian counterfeiting plot reechoed widely in the European press. The Vienna newspapers declare that the scandal means the end of the Horthy regime. The present Hungarian government is to be blamed for its condoning an internal criminal activity which has become an international hornets’ nest. Three groups are disgraced: the Awakening Magyars, the race purifiers, and the monarchistic anti-Semitic wing. The papers declare that with the liquidation of this scandal a new era will open for Hungary.
