Sir Herbert Samuel was offered a peerage, when he was received in audience by the King, according to a report published today in the “Jewish World,” London Anglo-Jewish weekly.

Sir Herbert respectfully declined, the paper stated. It is probable, however, that he will be included in the next list of baronets.
