The construction of the Haifa, Beirut, Tripoli railway, the line connecting Palestine, Syria and Northern Africa has been agreed upon between the governments of Syria and Palestine, it was leaned here today following the arrival of Henri de Jouvenel, French High Commissioner of Syria.
Complete agreement between the two governments exists as to the necessity and the feasibility of the new line, it was stated. The construction of the line depends on the securing of loan to the amount of £2,400,000, which, it is hoped, will be forthcoming.
The Palestine government has also agreed to the suggestion made by the French High Commissioner to arrange for regular conference between the chief secretaries and the departmental heads of the French administration in Syria and the Palestine Government to discuss methods of cooperation between the two countries.
