Mr. Sam Aaronsohn, who recently returned to Palestine, issued the following statement to the representative of the “Jewish Daily Bulletin.” Mr. Aaronsohn was in this country on behalf of the Palestine Flour Mills. His statement read:
“I have succeeded in interesting the Manishewitz Brothers Company in the Palestine matzos. They are most anxious to help this new branch of the Palestine Mills. Owing to the lateness of the season, we could not, however, make a big start this year. I brought with me only ten thousand pounds of matzos which were disposed of in a few hours. We are not aiming at, nor is it possible, to supply the entire American matzos requirement. All we want is to get the Jews here into the habit of buying a percentage of Palestine matzos with their other matzos. This will successfully be done with the cooperation of the Manishewitz Brothers, the largest matzos distributing agents in the world.
“As soon as I report personally to my firm and when they ratify my agreement with the Manishewitz Brothers, I will inform your representative in Palestine.”
A “Palestine Afternoon,” featuring exhibits of arts and crafts made in the Holy Land, was held at the Hotel Pennsylvania under the auspices of the Keren Hayesod Women’s League of which Mrs. Richard Goltheil is President.
Dedication of the just completed synagogue of the Congregation Rodler Zedek, Chicago, will take place in May. Dr. Benjamin A. Daskal is rabbi of the congregation. Sam J. Cohen is president. The synagogue was erected at a cost of $250,000.
The West End Synagogue, Congregation Shaari Tephilla, New York. purchased the three story dwelling at 172 W. 82nd Street.
The congregation recently purchased the adjoining house at 170 West Eighty-second St. and now controls a large plot on which it will erect a community house.
Rabbi Nathan Krass of Temple Emanu-El. New York, will be the principal speaker at a banquet in Wilmington. Del., Saturday night, in connection with the launching of the United Jewish Campaign. The campaign will continue throughout the week of May 3.
A new synagogue is to be built at Morris Avenue and 173rd Street, Bronx. N. Y., according to plans filed for the erection of the three-story structure, by the Mr. Eden Center. The cost is fixed at $100,000 by the architect, A. J. Simberg.
