Leaders of the Philadelphia Jewish community at a luncheon meeting subscribed the sum of $250,000 which was immediately forwarded to the Joint Distribution Committee as the first payment of Philadelphia’s pledge to contribute $1,600,000 toward the United Jewish Campaign.
Mr. Jules E. Mastbaum, Honorary Treasurer of the Local Committee and Dr. Cyrus Adler, Honorary Chairman of the United Jewish Campaign for Eastern Pennsylvania and Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Joint Distribution Committee, addressed the meeting.
