More than two hundred thousand dollars have been raised in the Keren Hayesod campaign in Canada, according to the report of S. J. Rodman, secretary of the Campaign. It is expected that an additional $50,000 will be raised in the Dominion.
Many cities over-subscribed their quotas and in some places the sum contributed exceeded by one hundred percent that of last year, Mr. Rodman stated.
A delegation composed of Mrs. A. J. Freiman, Chairman. S. J. Rodman and Rabbi J. L. Zlotnik, returning from a tour of Western Canada, reported that the Palestine sentiment is strong in every community. In numerous towns every resident contributed to the Fund.
The Jewish National Fund campaign is planned to take place during the month of September.
Rabbi Gerson B. Levi of The Temple, Chicago, a member of the Board of the Travelers’ Aid Society announced that that organization has added 150 volunteers for the work of directing travelers in the railroad station in Chicago during the Eucharistic Congress.
“Of course the Eucharistic Congress has its own information booths and aids in the stations.” said Rabbi Levi, “but because of the magnitude of the event and the great number of travelers, we thought that because of our experience in this work, we could help best by augmenting our regular forces. For that purpose we put 150 volunteers to work, and believe that with all these agencies at work, visitors to Chicago will have no trouble in finding themselves properly directed.”
