Because Rosh Hashonah, the Jewish New Year Day, falls on September 9, the day agreed on for the primary election in Maryland, J. Enos Ray and Galen L. Tait, chairmen of the Democratic and Republican State Central committees, respectively, have decided to substitute September 14 for the day for voting.

It was felt by the party leaders that to hold the primaries on September 9 might not only affect the vote but that many of the judges and clerks of election would decline to serve and it would be necessary to find substitutes. who in many precincts might be obtained with difficulty.
