Paul Rauschburg, a Jewish student, committed suicide here because he was not admitted to the University, due to the numerus clausus, which limits the number of Jews in the universities.

Rauschburg had completed his studies at the gymnasium with honors. When all his efforts to obtain admission failed, he became very despondent. His suicide has deeply stirred Jewish public opinion.
