(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

The reports circulated in the American press to the effect that the Russian Jews were alarmed because of the recent events in the Communist Government circle of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, were denied here.

The reports stated that the cause of the anxiety among the Russian Jews was the fact that as a result of recent events no Jew remained in an important executive position in the Soviet Government. These reports are unfounded. the reports from Russia state, firstly, because the majority of the dismissed Opposition leaders are non-Jews; secondly it appears that the entire Jewish Communist press in Russia, including the “Emes.” “Der Stern” and “Oktiabr,” are behind the present administration.

Senator Nathan Straus, Jr.. will not be a candidate for re-election to the State Senate this year, it was learned last night. No reason has as yet been given for his decision to unit the Legislatute.
