Representations to the Polish Government that it lend its support to the Jewish emigration movement from Poland, were made by Mr. Leon Halter, director of the Jewish Emigration Society.
Some time ago the Polish Emigration Office recommended to the Government that it lend greater assistance to Jewish emigrants. This recommendation however, has not materialized until now.
In the memorandum submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Public Protection the Jewish Emigration Society urged the authorities to accord equal treatment to the Jewish emigrants. For this purpose it was demanded that the Ministry of Labor create a special department for Jewish emigrants, that it lend material support to the Jewish Emigration Society in the same measure as is accorded to non-Jewish emigrants, that steps be taken to prepare the Jewish emigrants for the countries to which they intend going by opening special language courses to them and teaching them trades. It was also urged that the Jewish Emigration Society be represented in the proposed colonization companies for Brazil and South Africa.
The Minister of Labor has promised to support the demands of the Jewish Emigration Society.
