First Day of Federation Tenth Anniversary Drive for $4,720,000 Brings $1,719,992

Subscriptions totaling $1,719,992, in the tenth anniversary $4,720,000 campaign of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, were announced at the first report rally of campaign workers at Hotel Pennsylvania.

Frederick Brown, general chairman of the campaign, with a contribution of $75,000, headed yesterday’s list and other contributions toward the 1926 budgetary requirements of the ninety-one affiliated institutions of the Federation, include $50,000 from Mortimer L. Schiff; $30,000 from Adolph Lewisohn; $27,000 by Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff; $25,000 by Benjamin Winter; $20,000 by Solomon R. Guggenheim; $14,590 by Samuel Sachs; $13,500 by George Blumenthal; $13,318 by Arhtur Lehman; $12,500 by Henry lttleson; $11,000 by Herbert H. Lehman; $10,500 by Sam Minskoff; and $10,000 each by Simon Guggenheim, Henry Morgenthau, Reuben Sadowsky and Charles A. Wimpiheimer.

Sol M. Stroock, president of the Federation, called attention to the new standard of giving and said that the first day’s returns showed that not only would the quota be subscribed, but that thousands of names never before on the Federation rolls would be added as a result of the present campaign.

Mr. Stroock said that the subscriptions being reported were for the present year, and not for the coming year.
