A tragic case illustrating the gulf between the old and new generations of Russian Jews is reported by the “Emes,” the Communist daily paper of Moscow.

An Orthodox Jew, Judah Leib, of Krementchug, committed suicide because his only daughter, Gitel, joined the Communist party and, he believed, led an immoral life. When his daughter came to the funeral, she was attacked by the crowd and nearly killed.
