The rabid anti-Semitic agitation was continued in the Roumanian parliament yesterday by Alexander Cuza and Professor Shumulianu, notwithstanding the renewed outbreaks which resulted from the agitation.
Deputy Shumulianu demanded in parliament yesterday that a law be passed to regulate the problem of furnishing Jewish corpses for dissection in the clinics of the universities.
Cuza, in a speech delivered in the House in reply to the King’s message, outlined what he termed the policy of his “Christian League.” He demanded that the Roumanian government embark on the policy of “nationalization of the army.” Explaining this, Cuza urged that Jews be eliminated from the Roumanian army and that Jewish employees be dismissed from state offices and institutions. He also demanded that a numerus clausus be introduced to limit the number of Jewish students in Roumanian colleges and universities. In addition he demanded that a numerus clausus for Jews in trade, industry and the professions be enforced and that all contracts concluded with Jews concerning the forests be cancelled. Jewish houses ought to be confiscated and turned over to Roumanians, he declared.
The main feature of the Cuza program is his demand that Article 133 of the Roumanian constitution guaranteeing the rights of the Jewish population be annulled.
