Philip Guedalla and Mrs. Guedalla were tendered a dinner by Elisha M. Friedman, Sam A. Lewishohn, Walter E. Meyer and Maurice Wertheim prior to their sailing.
Mr. Guedalla spoke on the question of Palestine.
Among those present were Judge Julian W. Mack, Nathan Straus, Jr., Dr. Lee Frankel, K. Geo. Falk, Mortimer Schiff, Cyrus Sulzberger, Mrs. J. Wertheim, Sam Rosensohn and Jefferson Seligman.
Sir Wyndham Deedes and Maurice Samuel inaugurated the Keren Hayesod Campaign at a dinner held Sunday evening at the King Edward Hotel, Toronto. The objective of Toronto Zionists is $50,000, of which three fourths was subscribed at the dinner. Six hundred people were present.
Sir Wyndham left for Montreal, from where he will sail for England on Friday morning, on the Montrose. The inauguration of the Toronto Keren Hayesod Campaign also formally opens the general Keren Hayesod Campaign throughout Ontario.
The Neighborhood House in Montreal will be formally opened on May 1. It is planned to include both cultural and educational activities, clubs for boys and girls and fathers and mothers and classes in the activities of the House. The board of directors are: Mrs. M. Berland, President; Mrs. E. M. Berliner, Vice-President; Z. Levinson, Sec.-Treas.; Miss Mary Vineberg, Mrs. M. I. Sigler, A. Z. Cohen, T. Greenberg, I. Ballon, K. C. Joel Saxe, Phillip Levy, Clarence Michaels, J. H. Wener, and Lionel Sperber.
