The economic distress of large parts of the Jewish population in the Republic of Poland is assuming acute form.

Great grief was caused by the news received here from Bialystok that groups of Jewish parents who are in dire need have advertised that they are prepared to sell some of their children in order to provide food for the others. Many Orthodox Jewish parents, faced with the alternative of seeing their children starve, are sending them to missionary homes where they will be baptized.
