The recent visit of Thomas C. Masaryk, president of Czechoslovakia, to Palestine has become one of the major issues in the presidential campaign now being waged in the country.

The issue has been taken up by the Catholies in Slovakia, who foster the candidacy of a Catholic. They claim that during his last visit President Masaryk visited only the Jewish holy places in Palestine and neglected the Christian holy sites. This is an insult to the Christians and to the Vatican, they claim. The newspapers who are advocating the reelection of Professor Masaryk reply that Masaryk also visited the Christian holy places. The anti-Masaryk press, however, takes no notice of these denials.
