Over $8,000 was pledged at the opening banquet of the United Palestine Appeal drive here for $30,000. Mrs. Archibald Silverman, Maurice Samuel, Dr. B. S. Pollak of Jersey City, Rabbi I. C. Block, were the speakers. Harry Goldowsky, honorary chairman, presided.
