Kirk Kilisse, Thrace, is the only city in the Republic of Turkey in which Schechita is not permitted.

The community of Constantinople intervened with the Governor of the city seeking the removal of the prohibition, which has been in force for nearly a year. All steps taken by Jewish representatives have so far failed.
