The work of Dr. Judah L. Magnes, dean of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, is praised by Professor Owen Beaty. a Traveling Fellow of the Albert Kahn Foundation for the Foreign Travel of American Teachers, in a report to the trustees of the Foundation made public at Columbia University by Frank D. Fackenthal.
Dr. Beaty. professor at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Tex. declares Dr. Magnes considers research as important as teaching and defends his attempt to keep the membership of the university low. There are now about 130 students, although many critics believe the university should throw open its doors to the larger numbers who need help in lower as well as higher education.
