A plan for a “United Arabia” is propounded by the new Iraq Minister to London, Mazahim Bey. In an interview in the London “Observer,” the new Minister urges a federation of Iraq, Syria, Hedjaz, Nejd and Yemen.
When questioned regarding the difficult relations now existing between the leaders in Iraq and Ibn Suad, the Minister replied that in the Arabs’ movement toward unity, race is stronger than temporary antipathies between personalities.
The mandatory conception is unpopular in Arabia, the Minister stated. The Arabs fought against the Turks not to be under another power, but to gain their complete independence, he declared.
Plans have been completed for the thirty-seven-story office building that is to replace Temple Emanu-El on the northest corner of Forty-third Street and Fifth Avenue.
On August 27 Joseph Durst, Vice President of the Capitol National Bank, acquires possession of the synagogue, which he bought in December, 1926, through Byrne & Bowerman.
The entire operation will involve about $13,500,000.
