The Cultural Committee of the Warsaw Kehillah allotted the amount of 13,000 Zlotys for Jewish cultural purposes.
Two thousand Zlotys of this sum was granted for unemployed Jewish artists. Six thousand was put at the disposal of the Association of Jewish writers and fournalists for the Yiddish Art Theatre now being planned, and 5,000 Zlotys for the Tarbuth Hebrew schools.
Under the will of the late Aaron Mtyer, old time resident of Newark, N. J., charitable bequests of $1,000 each were made to Beth Israel and St. Barnabas Hospitals in Newark and to Paterson General. St. Joseph’s and Mirlam Barnert hospitals in Paterson. A $3,000 bequest was left to the Hebrew Orpben Asylum of Newark. Mr. Meyer left an estate valued at nearly $4,000-000.
The sixteenth annual convention of the New Jersey State Federation of Y. M. H. A’s and Y. W. H. A’s will be held October ? and ? at Trenton.It is expected that Felix Fuld, prominent Newark merchant and philanthro. pist and president of the Federation, will return from abroad in time to preside at the convention.
Bernard Goldsmith, one of the pioneer Jewish residents of Newark, N. J. having lived there hearly eighty years, died recently. He was a former president of the Hebrew Orphan and Benevolent Asylnm and was active in other charitable endeavors.
