Death won the race against the wishes of the friends of Michael Marcus, when they gathered to celebrate his one hundredth birthday.
Marcus was in the service of the Jewish community at Stuhlweissenburg for over half a century. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, members of the community gathered at a banquet in his honor.
While toasts were being made and wishes for his continued useful work were voiced, the centenarian complained that he was feeling ill, and died at the table.
Dr. Samuel Karelitz of Hartford, Conn., has returned from Europe where he made a study of pediatrics and pathology under a traveling fellowship received from Yalo University. He was an assistant in Pediatrics at Yale for one year and then became resident pediatrician at Mount Sinal Hospital of New York City where he spent a year previous to his receiving the fellowship.
