Philadelphia Will Raise $75,000 Toward Hias Quota

The Jewish community of this city will be asked to contribute the sum of $75,000 towards the national quota of $500,000 which will be required by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in order to carry on its work during the coming year. This announcement was made yesterday by Harry Fels, who is chairman of a special committee to obtain the necessary sum in this city.

The new temple the Congregation B’nai Israel, Cleveland, Ohio will be dedicated on September 18.

Rabbi Jacob Klein is rabbi of the congregation.

An Executive Conference of the Texas Zionist Association will open in Galveston to-day.

Billy Cook’s Inn, Yonkers, N. Y. is undergoing alterations and will be taken over by the congregation Sons of Israel, for a synagogue.

Thomas F. Larken candidate for mayor of Yonkers offered the Inn to the congregation when he learned that their meeting place was inadequate for the coming holiday. Rabbi David Berg is the rabbi of the Congregation of the Sons of Israel and Max Jones is president.
