Work will start immediately after the breaking of ground for the construction of a school building to cost $80,000 next door to the Temple Beth Israel of Albany Park, Chicago. The congregation noted for the three-story structure which will contain in addition to class rooms, a reception hall, kitchen, library, and an assembly ball capable of seating 260 persons. At the recent Yom Kippur services, upon the appeals of Rabbi S. Felix Mendelsohn and Mr. Leo H. Lowitz, president of the congregation, the members subscribed the final $20,000 necessary to assure the exaction of the building. Temple Beth Israel is the oldest Jewish congregation in Albany Park, a district situated in the northwest section of Chicago. It was formed in 1917.
