A memorandum formulating the demands of the national Jewish parties in the Republic of Poland was submitted to Marshal Pilsudski, Polish Prime Minister, by the Jewish deputies who are members of the Zionist group in the Polish parliament.
Among the demands voiced in this memorandum is one that the local kehillahs in the towns and cities should not be limited to their religious character as provided by the present statute. The memorandum lays particular stress on the fact that the government has not met the demands of the nationalist parties with regard to safeguarding the cultural and national characteristics of the Jewish population.
The submission of this memorandum represents a departure in the resect that until now the Jewish deputies did not negotiate with Marshal Pilsudski directly but with vice-premier Bartel or with other members of the government.
