Metropolitan League Opens Its Convention

Mayor James J. Walker will open the convention of the Metropolitan League of Jewish Community Associations, Saturday evening at the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, 92nd Street and Lexington Avenue, New York.

The conference is being devoted to a discussion on “How Can Jewry Conserve Its Greatest Asset–Its Jewish Youth,” Sol M. Stroock, president of the Metropolitan League, will be chairman and deliver his annual report. Other speakers will be Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America; Rabbi Samuel M. Cohen, executive director of the United Synagogue of America; Israel Unterberg, president of the Jewish Education Association and Harry L. Glucksman Executive Director of the Jewish Welfare Board all of whom will bring greetings from their respective organizations. A report of the work of the League will be presented by its field secretary, Samuel Leff.

The convention sessions will continue all day Sunday, at the Y. M. H. A. Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, Congressman Isaac Siegel, Dr. Samson Benderly, Rabbi Israel Goldstein, Harry L. Glucksman, Judge Mitchell May, M. Maldwin Fertig, Harry M. Marks and Rabbi Max Drob will be the speakers.
