Twenty-four steamers arriving at the ports of Halifax and St. John during January brought 3,287 immigrants, of whom 362 were Jews.
The Jewish immigrants were destined by provinces as follows: 131 to Quebec, 147 to Ontario, 16 to Saskatchewan, 15 to Alberta, 3 to British Columbia, 1to Nova Scotia, 2 to New Brunswick and 48 to Manitoba.
Four immigrants were detained at port of entry. All were later admitted through the intervention of the Legal Aid Department of the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada.
