The consideration of a bill introduced in Parliament for the prevention of cruelty to animals is developing the danger of the prohibition of Schechita in Hungary.
The discussion of the bill is scheduled to open in the House today. The measure is sponsored by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This society has submitted a memorandum to Parliament in which the demand is made that the stunning of animals before slaughter be made obligatory.
The memorandum also provides that in case of ritual slaughter for the needs of the Jewish population, a numerus clausus for Schechita be introduced so that only a number of animals, proportionate with the number of the Jewish population, be permitted to be slaughtered according to the Jewish ritual.
