The Legal Commission of the International Union of League of Nations Societies, during its session here adopted a resolution by Prof. Ruyssen, secretary of the union, that the International League of Nations Union should in future admit not only territorial organizations whose sole aim is to work for the League of Nations, but should also admit international and inter-territorial organizations engaged in pacifist activity and which support the work of the League of Nations. Professor Ruyssen instanced the Zionist World Organization as an example of the type of organization which would be admitted under the new rule.

Delegates and officers representing all lodges of the four states of Delaware, New Jersey, West Virginia and Pennsyvania will meet in Hotel Schenley, Pittsburgh, Pa., May 26, 27 and 28. when the District Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of B’nai Brith gathers for its convention. A. L. Wolk, of Pittsburgh, will be general chairman of the sessions. Two honorary chairmen have been appointed. They are Judge Josiah Cohn, of the Allegheny County Court of Appeals, past president of the district lodge, and the oldest member of the Pittsburgh unit, and A. L. Solomon, past district lodge president and now president of the Gusky Orphanage and Home for Crippled Children. Those who comprise the general convention committee are besides Mr. Wolk, chairman, I. W. Jacobs, M. Leon Tolochko, and Mrs. Simon Davis, vice-chirmen; L. S. Levin, treasurer; and A. L. Gardner, secretary. Judge Joseph L. Kun, at president of the district Lodge, will preside at all the business meetings of the convention.

Th opening banquet of the United Palestine Appeal, at Tutwiler, at Tutwiler Hotel, Birmingham, Ala. resulted in $4,000 being raised towards a quota of $15,000. Rabbi Max Heller of New Orleans was the principal speaker. Charles Miller is campaign chairman, J. Feldstein, treasurer, M. M. Jacobs, secretary.

Funeral services for Simon J. Straus, who died at his home in Chicago on Sunday, will be held this morning.

Mr. Straus, who was president of the Straus Brothers Company and of the Straus Brothers Investment Company, was born Aug. 18. 1865. He was the son of Jacob Straus, an indiana banker.
