Prof. Charles Kuntz, American agricultural expert, has arrived here for the purpose of aiding in the Jewish land settling undertaking in Bureya, Siberia.
Prof. Kuntz stated to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent that he will remain in Bureya for a year, where he will specialize in rice plantations along American lines.
Sholom Ash, American Jewish novelist, returned from his visit to the Jewish colonies. Mr. Ash expressed enthusiasm for the colonization work, which he declared he would aid with his writings.
Before departing for Paris, Mr. Ash apologized to the Ozet for his expressions against Litwakoff, editor of the Communist “Emes,” at a banquet given in his honor here. None of the Yiddish writers was at the station to bid him farewell.
Miss Ruth Richards of Yonkers, was valedictorian at the commencement exercises of Barnard College. Miss Richards was elected to the New York Delta Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa. She was president of the senior class and secretary of the student body. Miss Richards is the daughter of Bernard G. Richards, Executive Secretary of the American Jewish Congress.
