France Makes Gift to Hebrew University Library

The French Government through the Ministry of Public Education and Public Works has consented to present to the Jewish National and University Library a series of books which contain important geological research works. Among them are included, “Morgan’s Mission en Perse” in ten volumes and some research ssays by Thomas and Perron which deal with the geology of Tunis.

Harry Sacher has presented to the Library several hundred volumes, mainly dealing with politics of the world during the period of the war and after.

The Karaite scholar Murat Bey Pharag of Cairo has presented his books to the Library. Among the collection is a Text Book of Hebrew in the Arabic language, the Diwan in two parts in Arabic, and the novel. “The Jewess” also in Arabic, which defends the Karaite sect. There is also the Hebrew translation of his book of poems.

Through Rabbi Ehrenpreis of Stockholm, the Library has received about one hundred books, among them, 48 volumes of the Acta Chirurgica and the books of the famous entomologist Sjostedt, director of the Entomological Museum of Stockholm. There is also included in the collection, the biographies of all the winners of the Nobel Prize during the years of 1901 to 1925.
