Gratz College and Hebrew Education Society Merge

The merger of the Hebrew Education Society and Gratz college into one institution of learning is announced by Dr. Solomon Solis Cohen.

The twenty-eight annual graduation exercises of Gratz College held yesterday were declared by Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, president of the College, to be the last. Nine students received degrees.

In his statement Dr. Solis Cohen, chairman of the new Board of Overseers, stated that as a result of this merger Gratz College will be expanded to include three departments, a normal course, a college course and a course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Hebrew Pedagogy. The merger was made possible by a special grant voted by the Federation of Jewish Charities.

HERBERT LEHMAN GIVES $52,000 TO WILLIAMS COLLEGE

A gift of $52,058 from Colonel Herbert H. Lehman of New York, of the class of ’99, for the construction of a new dormitory to be named Lehman Hall was among the gifts announced at the commencement exercises of Williams College, Williamstown, Mass.
